Sri Lanka is about to get its first floating island, with an agro-tourism theme and around 50 floating cabanas. According to recent news sources, the Bolagala Floating Resort Based on Agro Tourism in Katana, near the Negombo tourism center, would be the newest addition to give visitors exclusive experiences.
According to reports, the 50 floating cabanas would have a floating hotel, a floating swimming pool, a bar, the main restaurant, a karaoke club, an aquatic gym, and a spa.
Watersports, jogging and cycling trails, a tennis court, swimming, and an electric vehicle experience are among the other activities available to visitors. This sustainable tourism venture would incorporate the idea of organic farming, and tourists will be able to get hands-on experience with farming in Sri Lanka. According to reports, this is the first time the idea of organic farming has been used in the Negombo region.
In response, Kimarli Fernando, Chairperson of Sri Lanka Tourism, said, “Sustainable and eco-friendly goods are the future for tourism, especially post COVID-19, and we look to the industry to be creative and develop unique experiences such as this project.”
The project will be finished in two phases, according to the schedule. While the first stage will see the construction of three suite quarters, three GPS movable rooms, 27 deluxe rooms, a lounge, and a floating swimming pool.
The second stage will see the completion of the remainder of the cabanas, as well as the aquatic spa and other activity-based elements. According to reports, the underwater spa would also have four spa spaces.
I personally feel this is a nice concept and will definitely going to attract a lot of tourists around. You might also like the concept of ECO FLOATING HOTEL CREATES ITS OWN POWER which is also a good initiative towards preventing our nature and environment.
